Well, my friend Dalia and I left our jobs and apartment in Washington DC to travel around the world for a spell. Plans have evolved as we’ve been going, but here’s an itinerary I put together.
Washington, DC – San Francisco June 5
San Francisco – Los Angeles
Los Angeles – London June 28
London – Lille, France
Lille – Paris
Paris – Poitiers (for a wedding) July7
Poitiers – Limoges (to meet up with Marion)
Limoges – the South of France (including many stops, towns, other people)
South of France – Paris (to see French DC friends)
Paris – Irun, Spain August 7
Irun – Santiago de Compostela (the Camino de Santiago, northern route)
Santiago de Compostela – Porto, Portugal August 13
Porto – Lisbon
Lisbon – Paris (sorting out visas)
Paris – Lille
Lille – London
London – Nairobi, Kenya September 28
Nairobi – Mombasa
Mombasa – Kwale
Kwale – ?
? – Nairobi
Nairobi – London November 30
Then, it will probabaly be back to the States for me and who knows where for Dalia.
In California, we met up with William in the SF Bay area. We visited Berkeley
and ate at Chez Panisse
among other activities and then we headed up to Shelter Cove, CA. There we met up with our friends Anne and Keith and their superdog, Juna. Here’s the set of pictures on Flickr that covers that time period. (There’s actually a bunch more photos to include in that. I’ll try, but you may have to wait)
Afterwards we drove down US-1 to Los Angeles, stopping off at Big Sur for a night of camping at Andrew Molera State Park. In Los Angeles we saw my family before taking off for France.
In France we attended a wedding and then travelled around the South of the country in the company (and car) of Dalia’s good friend, Marion. There’s a Flickr set called Le France that covers that.
